Ava Michael
Fellow Traveler Counseling
Practicing Clinical Intern
Ava attended Ithaca College and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington earning her undergraduate degree in psychology. She is now earning her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University.
Her passion is working with young adults and elderly who experience anxiety and depression. She is also passionate about healing individuals who are going through chronic illness.
Having been diagnosed with three chronic illnesses at a young age, Ava began to experience hardship, physical pain, depression, and anxiety. She then sought out therapy for these reasons. Through going to school, overcoming physical challenges, and going to therapy, her passion for counseling became even stronger. Through healing herself through therapy Ava has found ways to heal others going through the same thing.
Her goal is to help her clients gain the tools they need in order to work through life’s challenges. It can be difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel when dealing with chronic illness, but Ava wants to show her clients that is possible with her guidance. Her therapeutic approach is guided my compassion and encourages self confidence. She uses cognitive behavioral approaches as well as compassion based therapy and narrative therapy.
