Ava works with clients across the lifespan, from adolescents to older adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, and the emotional impact of chronic illness. Her therapeutic approach draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and narrative therapy, with an emphasis on empathy, resilience-building, and client empowerment.
Having navigated chronic health challenges herself from a young age, Ava brings a personal understanding and unique perspective to her counseling work. This lived experience deepens her commitment to helping others and allows her to offer compassionate, relatable guidance to those facing similar struggles.
Ava provides care that is collaborative, practical, and solution-focused. She is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can develop effective coping strategies, strengthen self-compassion, and regain a sense of control in their lives.
Ava Michael is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) based in Wilmington, North Carolina, practicing with Fellow Traveler Counseling. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ithaca College and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University.
